Men against patriarchy exists to create space and opportunities for self-identified men in POG to process, discuss, and explore issues related to gender and masculinity as they relate to our personal and common struggle for liberation.

Our commitment is to working against sexism, patriarchy, and machismo culture in all their varied forms and for a pro-feminist, anarchist social revolution that respects and liberates all.

To further these aims we hold a monthly men's gathering as a space for discussion and debate as well as an opportunity to work on projects such as group readings and zines, writing articles, providing co-trainers for trainings with other men, and providing occasional ally action support.

This is not about charity towards women, it's about recognition that we have a responsibility to destroy institutions responsible for the systematic oppression of all. Working on deconstructing our own socialization and combating sexism is a necessary responsibility and a revolutionary imperative.

This group is not about guilt trips, being immobilized, feeling superior or engaging in empty gestures, it's about challenging ourselves and others constructively, taking action individually and collectively, and trying with acceptance of the fact we'll sometimes fail.

It's about learning, because we want to be able to love, to express affection and caring, to develop real and lasting bonds, to understand our bodies and ourselves, to interact as equals, to stop exploiting and dominating, to stop a culture of rape and a culture of violence reinforced by our silence. We want to destroy forever the system that claims the right to define for us what it means to be a man, what our role is, and how we should act. We want freedom and we want to stop being a detriment to the freedom of others. This is our goal, this is our dream, and it will take work and time and commitment to see it realized.
